Dr. Arun Tyagi ~ An Introduction
Presently working as the associate professor at Dr. Sarvepalli Radha Krishnan Ayurved University, Jodhpur, Dr. Arun Tyagi has played a significant role in popularising the Panchkarma therapy across Northern India.
Passion, hard work and above all, expertise in the respective field can easily make a person a Pioneer. The Success story of Dr. Arun Tyagi, associate Professor at Dr. Sarvepalli Radha Krishnan Ayurved University (formerly Rajasthan Ayurved University), is a classic example of this fact. An expert in ‘Panchkarm,’ Dr. Arun has been instrumental in popularising this process of therapy across North India. He also has trained quite a good number of doctors in this therapy. So far training of 18 batches of doctors has been completed. Apart from heading the Swasthavart (Hygiene) department, he is also the in-charge of the University Hospital as well as the co-ordinator of the Panchkarma training programme organized by the University. Recipient of prestigious Veer Durgadas award, Dr Tyagi has been actively involved in medical camps since student life. He is also involved in de-addiction activities.
Born on December 15, 1962 at Saharanpur (UP), Dr Arun completed his B.Sc. at Meerut. Later, he pursued B.A.M.S. followed by M.D. in Medicine/Kaya-Chikitsa from Madan Mohan Malviya Ayurvedic College, Udaipur. After completing his post-graduation in 1992, he joined as medical officer in the department of Ayurveda with first posting at Udaipur itself.
Later, he served as the medical officer at various places including Sirohi and Ajmer. In 2005, he was sent on deputation to Rajasthan Ayurved University, Jodhpur as assistant professor. In 2010, he got regular appointment in the University. He has also spread awareness regarding Panchkarma Chikitsa in the treatment of Chronic Diseases. He has successfully cured more than 30 thousand cases of obesity so far. A meritorious student since beginning, Dr. Tyagi has been the University topper in BAMS & MD. He is also ‘C’ certificate holder in NCC. He has presented various important research papers in national and international seminars, apart from contributing with articles in leading journals related to the subject. He is also co-editor of ‘Ayurveda Prakash,’ a journal being published by Director of Ayurved-Government of Rajasthan.
Son of freedom fighter Late Om Prakash Tyagi, Dr. Arun is equally inclined towards social causes. He has been actively involved in medical camps since student life. He has organized Ayurved treatment camps through mobile unit at several Places across the state. During these camps, a large number of patients suffering from piles, fistula as well as other diseases has been cured. Dr. Tyagi has recently received proposal by Jodhpur Industries Association (JIA) for honorary membership. His better half, Savita Tyagi is medical officer at Ayurveda University. His Son Vasav is pursuing MBBS while daughter Nishreyas Arun is a student of B.Tech.
